Episode 1
In this episode, I introduced myself and the podcast. I talked about background information about albinism in preparation for later episodes. Here are a few resources relate to what I talked about in this episode!
[1:58]- Albinism types: This article from NOAH (The National Organization for Albinism and Hypopigmentation) details the different types of OCA and OA and the scientific causes for each of them, starting on the second page of the PDF.
[4:08] - Nystagmus: This is a video of what my nystagmus looks like. Depending on the position of my eye, and how tired I am, the amount my eyes shake can vary, and the severity of the nystagmus can also vary depending on the person.
[4:45] - How do I see with albinism? The conference sessions from NOAH below both give a good explanation of how having a low visual acuity affects vision. The first video is from 2020, and it shows different visual acuity through editing photos and videos. The second video is from 2022, and shows how having a low visual acuity can look by using paintings to show how a person with albinism might see an unknown object from different distances.
